My husband doesn't want our son to ever believe in santa?

our son is only 3 1/2 months old and my husband has already decided that he's going to tell him that santa isn't real when our son gets old enough to understand. (he wants our son to appreciate the gifts we give him lol) when he was growing up he didn't believe in santa, my sister and i however did sooo much that we didn't stop until i was 14 and she was 18!! very embarring i know but we had our reasons. of course the truth prevailed eventually. NOW part of me wants to go along with my husband and say he's not real straightforward because it's such a let down later, but then i don't want to deprive my son of that sense of magic and having belief in something like that and develop a great imagination. i just don't want to kill that in my son... i dunno. any advice?
